STEVE LEWIS
Steve Lewis began building golf clubs in Lexington, Kentucky in 1978. His reputation for exceptional club repair and
alteration made him respected in the golf industry and a reliable source of
knowledge to area professionals and amateurs. His dedication to perfection
gained him the respect and admiration of many Senior PGA Tour Players. He has
done club work for some of Golf's great players ... such as Sam Snead, Gene
Littler, Gay Brewer, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Charles Sifford, and more.
By being a excellent putter himself combined with the many years of working with golfers
of all skill levels, Steve saw a need in putter design that was not being
utilized. He noticed that about 1/3 of all golfers used a very upright putting
posture and no standard putter on the market accommodated that setup position.
The resulting design was The Townsend. It is the only putter under 37 inches on
the market with a head over 370 grams that puts the putter head under the eyes
and puts the putter head, hands, and shoulders in the same plane, giving you as
pure a pendulum putting stroke as the rules of golf allow. Touring Players and Mini Tour Players like the clean simple lines and the fact that the
alignment feature does not detract from concentrating on the putt.
"There was a need for a putter that was more upright. We have filled a gap in designing a putter that not only allows for a proper pendulum motion but provides feel and consistency. This is the best fast greens putter on the market and gives players the one most important putting mechanic you can have ...confidence." Steve Lewis
